Help shape the future of Australian Marine Parks - first comment period is now closed.
The Australian Government is intending to prepare 6 draft management plans for 44 Australian Marine Parks, protecting 2.37 million square kilometres.
The Director of National Parks invited comments between 31 July and 30 September on the:
- Proposal to prepare six draft management plans for 44 Australian Marine Parks and
- Proposal to proclaim changes to Norfolk, Lord Howe and Gifford Marine Parks
Feedback received during this first consultation period will be considered by the Director of National Parks and inform the drafting of the management plans. A final round of public consultation will be held on the draft management plans in 2027.
Comments on the proposed changes to Norfolk, Lord Howe and Gifford Marine Parks will inform final proclamation recommendations in a report by the Director of National Parks for the Minister for the Environment and Water. These proposed changes have been informed by the Norfolk and Lord Howe island communities.
