Affected South-east Network Marine Parks
Zone changes that prohibit the use of certain fishing gear types by classifying them as not-allowed under the South-east Marine Parks Network Management Plan 2025 (which came into effect from the 13th of February 2025) will impact some commercial fishers.

If you plan to enter or undertake activities in an Australian Marine Park, it is important that you are familiar with its management zones and rules. Detailed information about these zones and the rules in the management plans, available on our website.
The marine parks with zoning changes which may impact commercial fishers in are:
- Beagle Marine Park
- Flinders Marine Park
- Freycinet Marine Park
- Huon Marine Park
- Tasman Fracture Marine Park
- Franklin Marine Park
- Murray Marine Park

Note: Macquarie Island Marine Park was expanded and zoning changes made as part of a proclamation that came into effect from 1 July 2023. The 2025-2035 Management Plan zoning for Macquarie Island Marine Park is identical to that which came into effect from 1 July 2023.
